This step took quite a bit longer than I anticipated... Just the sheer size and the amount of wood to be removed. really happy with it and it's dry fitted... Coming up will be tap tuning the backboard and then the glue up!!
Today in the shop... Carving the ouside of the curly maple backboard! This will take more than one day!
Yet another productive day in the shop today, My morning started with the shaping of the heel and the neck profile. Once completed I've when ahead with adding the back veneer onto the back of the peghead and finish drilling the hole for the tuners.
Stopped for lunch...
Resumed with the neck glue up which although uneventful , was harder to insert that I had anticipated... And with the clock ticking on the glue open time, got me a little stressed out..
While the glue was setting on the neck joint, I decided to start the fretboard.
On the pictures it might look too small widthwise but there will be binding around it which will give it the proper dimension.
Next on my list... Carving the Backboard!!!
Had a pretty good day in the shop today.. I was able to post my latest build video in the mandocello series. Shape, and drill the pilot holes in the peghead. really happy with the progress...
Here are a few pictures of the current build K4 Mandocello
